Ingredients:

  • 5 lb well trimmed beef brisket
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2 large onions cut in 1/4 ” rings
  • 12 oz bottled chili sauce ( try barbecue sauce instead )
  • 12 oz dark ale, or beef broth or water ( I used the ale )
  • 2 Tbs worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbs packed brown sugar

Directions:

  1. Season your brisket beforehand
  2. Then place fat side down in a large slow cooker
  3. Spread over the garlic, sprinkle with pepper
  4. Layer on the sliced onion rings
  5. Combine chili sauce, ale, Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar
  6. Pour over brisket and onions
  7. Cook low about 8 hours or fork tender
  8. Carefully remove to platter
  9. Remove onions with a slotted spoon and place over brisket
  10. Spoon off any fat from the remaining sauce
  11. Place into a pot and thicken sauce as desired
  12. Meanwhile tent brisket with foil
  13. Let stand 10 minutes
  14. Then cut meat into slices across the grain
  15. Serve with sauce and onions.

7-8 hrs to make
